Assessmate

1. About this page

This page explains how individuals can request deletion of personal data associated with Assessmate accounts and related Services. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

Assessmate provides assessment and learning infrastructure via web and mobile applications and organisational workspaces. Users may create accounts (email/password or third-party OAuth), join organisation workspaces, and upload materials used to create or sit assessments.

If your data was uploaded by a training centre, employer, or other organisation using Assessmate, that organisation may be the controller. Contact them first; we may need their authorisation before deleting processor-held content.

If you can sign in to the Assessmate app or platform:

  1. Open your account profile or settings.
  2. Scroll to the account management section.
  3. Choose Delete account (or equivalent) and confirm.

This initiates deletion for the account currently signed in. Most deletions started in-app complete immediately or within 24–72 hours, excluding backup rotation.

3. Request deletion if you cannot sign in

  1. Email hello@assess-mate.com with the subject line: Data deletion request — Assessmate.
  2. Or submit a request via our contact form, clearly stating that you want data deletion.
  3. Include identifying details so we can locate your records, such as:
    • The email address used with the account
    • Organisation or workspace name (if any)
    • Approximate dates of activity
    • Assessment, submission, or file identifiers (if known)

We will acknowledge requests within five business days. After verification, we aim to complete deletion within ten business days. If more time is required, we will tell you why and provide an updated timeline.

4. Data we delete on request

Subject to the exceptions below, we delete or irreversibly anonymise:

  • Account and profile information (email, display name, authentication identifiers we control)
  • User-uploaded files used to create assessments and generated assessments tied to the account
  • Submissions and attempt records tied to the account
  • Device-linked records and session data associated with the account
  • Support tickets that are not required for legal retention (or we anonymise contact details)

5. Data we may retain

We may retain limited information where necessary:

  • Crash / diagnostic reports — up to 180 days (may include non-identifying device info)
  • Aggregated analytics — retained only in de-identified aggregate form
  • Backups — residual copies up to 90 days until removed in the normal backup cycle
  • Legal obligations — records we must keep under law, for disputes, or security investigations, for the minimum necessary period
  • Organisation-owned content — data your organisation owns as controller may require the organisation’s instruction before erasure

6. Verification

To prevent unauthorised deletion, we may ask you to verify control of the account email or provide additional proof of identity. We will not fulfil a deletion request we cannot reasonably verify.

7. What if we cannot delete everything?

If technical limits, legal duties, or irreversible aggregation prevent full erasure of certain records, we will notify you, explain what remains, and describe any available alternatives (such as suppression of marketing or restricted processing).
