About Assessmate

Assessmate builds exam-practice and assessment infrastructure — from candidate-facing practice under realistic computer-based conditions to tools training organisations use to measure mastery.

We are hiring a Frontend Developer to own polished, performant UI across our company site and product surfaces.

About the role

You will implement and improve interfaces in a modern Astro / React / TypeScript stack, working tightly with design and product. Ownership is high: you ship features end to end, care about accessibility and performance, and leave the codebase cleaner than you found it.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain marketing and product UI with Astro, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind
  • Translate designs into production-quality layouts with strong typography, spacing, and responsive behaviour
  • Improve accessibility (keyboard, semantics, contrast) and Core Web Vitals where it matters
  • Implement intentional motion that supports hierarchy — not decorative noise
  • Integrate with APIs and forms (contact, auth-adjacent flows, practice/product surfaces as needed)
  • Write clear, maintainable components; review PRs; document non-obvious decisions
  • Collaborate with design on feasibility and polish before and after handoff

What success looks like

  • Features that ship on time and feel solid on mobile and desktop
  • Fewer visual regressions and accessibility gaps
  • Faster iteration because components and patterns are reusable
  • Product and marketing surfaces that feel like one brand system

Who you are

  • Strong frontend fundamentals: HTML semantics, CSS layout, modern JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with React and component-driven UI; Astro or similar meta-frameworks is a plus
  • Care about performance, accessibility, and maintainable styling
  • Comfortable owning work remotely with async communication
  • Bonus: EdTech, assessment, or complex form/workflow products

Compensation

Competitive pay aligned to experience and engagement type (full-time or contract). Details shared at offer.
