About Assessmate
Assessmate builds assessment and exam-practice technology for learners and training organisations. Candidates need calm, credible interfaces when they practise for high-stakes exams; centres and trainers need clarity when they author, deliver, and report on competency.
We are hiring a UI/UX Designer to raise the craft of both our product surfaces and company marketing experience.
About the role
You will own end-to-end design for key flows — from first visit and practice sessions through reporting and organisational workflows. This is a high-ownership role: you research, prototype, ship with engineers, and iterate from real usage — not slide decks alone.
You will work closely with product, engineering, and growth, and report into leadership on design priorities.
What you will do
- Design product flows for exam practice, diagnostics, assessment delivery, and results that feel trustworthy under pressure
- Evolve marketing and careers surfaces so the brand reads clearly without clutter or generic “AI startup” patterns
- Build and maintain a lightweight design system (type, colour, components, motion) that engineers can implement consistently
- Run lightweight research: competitor audits, usability checks, and feedback from tutors, centres, and candidates
- Produce high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and crisp handoff specs
- Partner with frontend to polish spacing, hierarchy, accessibility, and intentional motion
- Prioritise ruthlessly — ship the next useful improvement, not every idea
What success looks like
- Practice and assessment flows that candidates can complete without confusion
- A tighter visual language across product and marketing
- Fewer design–engineering mismatches and faster implementation cycles
- Measurable improvements in completion, conversion, or support tickets tied to UX clarity
Who you are
- Strong visual and interaction craft with a portfolio of shipped digital products
- Comfortable simplifying dense B2B / EdTech workflows into calm hierarchies
- Fluent in Figma (or equivalent) and modern handoff practices
- Clear communicator who can defend decisions with user and business reasoning
- Self-directed in a remote, small-team environment
- Bonus: experience with education, assessment, exam prep, or learning products
Compensation
Competitive pay aligned to experience and engagement type (full-time or contract). Details shared at offer.
